SWIL members Laurie and Henry Henderson's garden. 

The rural Henderson property has a mix of things to see.  

● A rain garden, two woodland gardens, full and part sun beds are planted in informal and naturalistic styles and vary in stages of maturity from well established to newly created. In addition there is a small meadow recreation in it's 3rd year of growth.

● The plantings contain a little bit of everything with more than 130 different native species of forbs, grasses, sedges, ferns, and vines as well as more than 30 native trees and shrubs

● Several rain barrels serve the beds around the house, and a free standing rain shed with rain barrel system captures and supplies water to the vegetable garden.

● An apiary is the source of the locally known brand of "Hank's Honey." 

●  The plantings are primarily native but contain some cultivars, a few natives from outside this eco region, non-natives.  There is also a vegetable garden and fruiting trees and bushes of native and non native varieties

Quite a few species can be viewed from the paved driveway and sidewalk and the rest are accessed by walking on grass. Wear comfortable shoes to see everything planted across more than an acre.   There are places with inclines and uneven ground.
